Bidders are always welcome to be present in the room for sales.

Absentee bidding
Our auctioneers will bid on your behalf and attempt to purchase the lot for you at the lowest price, allowing for other bids and any reserve price, up to your maximum bid. Absentee bids can be left in person at our saleroom, emailed directly to us at salerooms@cooperandtanner.co.uk (please ensure that you supply us with your full name, postal address, email address, and contact numbers to enable us to register your bids). Absentee bids can be left with us up until 4pm on the day before the sale, any bids after this time may not be received by the auctioneer. Please note when we receive two or more absentee bids for the same lot at the same bid amount, we will prioritise the first bid received.

Telephone bidding
For telephone bids, we will contact you a few lots before your item comes up for sale, and a member of our saleroom staff will bid live with you over the phone. All requests for telephone bidding must be made either by email or by contacting our office before the start of each sale day. In order to bid with us via telephone we require your full details as per the Absentee bidding section.

Online bidding
We offer live internet bidding via the largest online bidding platform in the UK the-saleroom.com, please register directly with them on our page prior to the sale to ensure that your account is approved in time. Please note that we are unable to amend or remove any absentee (autobids) left via the-saleroom.com, you must contact the-saleroom.com to do this.

Viewing and condition reports
Viewing takes place the Monday and Tuesday before a sale; we open from 9am until 6pm on Monday and 9am until 5pm on Tuesday, except on bank holidays. Viewing for our Jewellery, Silver & Watches Sale is the Monday and Tuesday prior to sale, Monday 10am to 4pm and Tuesday 10am to 5pm.

Condition is not stated on any item and we are pleased to give condition reports and supply additional photographs on any lot where practical. If you would like a report on the condition of your lot(s) you can request one by emailing us at salerooms@cooperandtanner.co.uk. Please be aware that we receive a large volume of requests for additional information prior to an auction, we work hard to reply to all enquiries quickly but may not be able to provide a full report until the last few days before the auction. All requests must be received by 12pm the day prior to the sale to ensure they are responded to.

Our buyer's premium
All purchases are subject to a buyer’s premium of 22% plus VAT. When you successfully bid on any lot, the price you pay will be your winning bid plus the buyer’s premium. Please note that by bidding via the-saleroom.com you will incur an additional premium of 4.95% inclusive of VAT in addition to our regular buyer's premium. Online buyers can also purchase items via our white page where the additional online charge is 3% plus VAT.

Methods of payment
Our office is a cashless office. Debit card payments are accepted in person or over the telephone up to a limit of £500. Payment can also be made/taken directly via the-saleroom.com. Please note that we do not accept credit cards.

Our invoice payment terms are by no later than 7 calendar days after the sale. Please note that by agreeing to register with Cooper and Tanner, you agree that storage fees will be charged at £5 per lot per day 7 days after the sale date.

Collection of lots
We are able to offer buyers an in-house postage and packaging service on certain items within the UK only. Once payment has been made for items, please contact our office by telephone to request a quote. Our minimum charge for postage and packing is £15 plus VAT. Items are insured against loss in post, however we are unable to insure against damage in post. If we are unable to provide packing we can recommend the following couriers for shipping including larger items:

We will only release goods to a third party upon receipt of identification and authority from the purchaser.

Lots that are not collected within 8 weeks of the sale will be sold by Cooper and Tanner and storage costs will be recouped by Cooper and Tanner.

Refunds
All items are sold as seen, refunds will not be issued.
