Assistant Valuer / Cataloguer – Sale Rooms

Cooper and Tanner have an opportunity for an Assistant Valuer/Cataloguer to join the Sale Rooms team at our Standerwick Office. Our Sale Rooms is a busy auction house specialising in jewellery and antiques.

Our ideal candidate will have existing experience within the industry, carrying industry knowledge and have a good understanding of working in a saleroom or auction environment. However, we can support someone that is new to the industry, with a keen interest in working and building a career with us.

You will be responsible for:

• Dealing with client enquiries about our Sale Rooms

• Valuing items; this may include supporting valuation days at our other offices

• Cataloguing lots, including photography and writing descriptions and condition reports

• Uploading items to our auction software

• Booking lots in, and assigning lot numbers to sale items

• Assisting with collection, dealing directly with vendors and purchasers

• General administrative duties

Duties will vary day to day, and you must be flexible in your approach to work, supporting wherever possible with tasks associated with the smooth running of the Sale Rooms.

About you:

You will be a positive, warm and friendly individual and supportive towards your colleagues. You will be organised, solution driven and resilient. If you have passion for excellent service and have a keen interest in the antiques and auctions industry, this could be the ideal role for you.

Please only apply if you can demonstrate the following:

• Hold a UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle of work (necessary for role)

• Be confident in the use of IT

• Have previous administration experience and have a high level of attention to detail

• Are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, working efficiently

• Existing experience working in a similar role is highly desirable

• Passion for antiques, jewellery and working in an auction house

Hours of work:

3 days per week, between the hours of 9.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. With this role, we have some flexibility over working days and hours and would be happy to discuss availability with candidates at interview.
