The end of October saw our final two autumn on farm machinery dispersal sales, both which were very well supported from farmers and traders alike.
The 1st of October saw an end of tenancy retirement dispersal for Graham Habershon and family at Moorhouse Farm, Bromham Nr Chippenham, Wilts. It was the end of an era with Graham having been born on the farm and then took over the tenancy from his late father, running it as a successful dairy unit until making the decision to retire. Although mainly older equipment, the trade was lively and there was good local support as he had been an active member of the local farming community for over 70 years! There was plenty of general-purpose items, alongside tractors and machines, which were older and had served Graham well. There was plenty of enthusiastic bidding throughout the day and we wish Graham a very long and happy retirement.
The 22nd of October saw an extremely emotional sale for the late John Ponzo of Roma House Farm Pewsey, following his sudden death. John was a client, friend and “larger than life” character and a joy to have known for the past 30 years. The day (although wet under foot) was blessed with sunshine and the huge crowd was there to bid farewell to an extremely well-liked farmer and businessman of the community. There were some very choice lots on offer from the four hundred head beef livestock farm, bidders and buyers came from as far as Norfolk and Cheshire to try and acquire some of the quality machines which were on offer. While all were not successful in their bids, a huge amount of goodwill and spirited bidding ran throughout the auction from start to finish. A difficult day for all but John would have been pleased with the attendance and prices achieved.
